On 1st July 2022, leading Consultant General and Specialist Gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic Surgeon Mr Anselm Agwunobi marked a 20 years milestone as a Consultant Surgeon.
Mr Agwunobi qualified as a doctor in 1981. He undertook his specialist training in the UK before being appointed as a Consultant Surgeon, specialising in gastrointestinal (GI) and hernia surgery in 2002, initially at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and currently at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust where he is the Trust Lead for National Emergency Laparotomy Audit. His particular expertise is in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques, known as laparoscopic or keyhole surgery, to treat various abdominal conditions. At Stockport NHS Foundation Trust he was the lead Upper GI
Surgeon where he led the development of advanced keyhole surgery for treating complex oesophageal and stomach cancers.
In his practice, Apple Surgical Clinic based at The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, the abiding ethos remains as in his NHS practice, care and compassion underpinned by experience.
